Degree Type
Master of Science
Admission Requirements

Applicants with a BS degree from an accredited US university:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.00
  • Two letters of recommendations

International Applicants with a BS degree from a non-US university:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.25 out of 4.00 or equivalent.

The applicant's undergraduate record and letters of recommendation must indicate the ability to
undertake graduate studies.

Applicants should ideally hold an accredited bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace
engineering or their equivalent. Applicants with BS degrees in engineering disciplines other than
mechanical and aerospace engineering or non-engineering disciplines such as physics or computer
science may also be considered on individual basis. However, they may be required to take
additional courses prior to admission. Specific courses will be determined in consultation with
graduate program director of the MSAE program.

Degree Requirements

The Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering (EMAE) program requires:

The proposed MSAE program will require a total of 30 credits (ten 3-credit courses). The program
will include a research thesis option and a non-thesis option.

  • A math requirement, which can be met by either taking ME 7000 (Advanced Engineering Analysis) or ME 7030 (Numerical Methods for Engineering Simulation).
  • A combined maximum of six credits may be transferred from other institutions with the approval of the graduate committee chair. A grade of "B" or better is necessary for transfer of credits.
  • Only graduate research assistants are required to write a thesis. It is optional for other students.
